If you're coming to the Nationals and want a room at the Marriott (official hotel), book soon as the preferred rate goes away on Sept. 19th! If you wait until after that date, the rates go up by as much as $30 per night per room. Also, the hotel tells me that there is a big high school band event in the area and they'll likely book whatever rooms we don't use so after the 19th they may not have any rooms available.

I know we're a procrastinating bunch (certainly I am) but they don't have many rooms booked for us at the moment. One more week to book! If you know anyone that's planning to come and hasn't booked or hasn't seen my notices, PLEASE, let them know the deadline.

If you have to wait, there's a Microtel across the street from the field and a Crosslands near the Marriott. I don't think the rate is any better and though not bad, it's not as nice as the Marriott. But if this other convention is as they tell me, it's likely sopping up most  local rooms.
